We're still looking at it, but it seems that Google have changed their programming and a re restricting the number of keywords for which they are returning data. They say that it is because there is insufficient data for them to publish a bid - we don't really buy that story, but nevertheless Google are restricting the data they are releasing.

This will affect all Keyword research tools that use Google bid data - not just Keywords Analyzer. There is not much that anyone can do about this as the issue is Google's end and not ours.

I would say the key reason here is that Google is trying to discourage  you from publishing those keywords by giving you a lower quality score for those keywords.

They look at all the other keywords and their statistics in your account and allocate what they call a “Quality Score” to your new Campaigns’/Keywords – prior to August last year, you may recall that they just slowed and then halted low-performing keywords – now, they just raise your cost to absurd levels to encourage you to look at those keywords.

The bid you see in KA is the bid that you should be paying for first position assuming Google thought your keyword was relevant and targeted.

Keywords Analyzer is for PC only I'm afraid - however, if you have PC emulation software on your Mac it will work with that just fine.

Alternatively, depending on what you need to do research for, AdSense Dominator will work because it is server based (www.adsense-dominator.com) AdSense Dominator is a keyword database with all the PPC number of campaigns as well and rankings of keywords.

No - you are doing nothing wrong - Google have changed their programming in the last few hours - we are aware of the problem and are working on an imminent fix for it. We will announce it as soon as it is ready.

Just by way of amplification, I have a number of people asking me "Why is it that you have to change your programming so often and provide so many updates..."?

I'd like to take the opportunity to answer that here so that others can read it in the knowledgebase.

Keywords Analyzer is a very complex tool. It draws data from a number of different search engines simultaneously. To do this it has to follow the structure of the search engine's programming and data provisioning. Now Search engines, Google in particular, are continually working on their own programming. So, and this happens quite often, if Google change their bidding tools, or search engine structure without warning, then any tool that is programmed to look at the old way, will stop working straight away.

This will affect absolutely every tool that uses the Search Engine's data.

One thing we have always prided ourselves on is reacting extremely quickly to Search Engine changes and getting an update out as quickly as possible - I can categorically say, and I know this because I own them, that most of our keyword research competitors are not nearly as quick - and in some cases, have never responded at all.

Sure - it's the previous 30 days searches on Yahoo Search (formerly Overture) They have around 30% of the entire search market so multiply by 3.3 will give you an idea of the total search across all search engines.

It's an explanation oversight on our part. It is because you have SEO selected as on - SEO needs results to function properly and so overrides the Results off command. If you need SEO you need results, but if not, go to settings>seo and turn that off as well.

Yes - I should be more clear about this in help maybe - this is because you have SEO turned on; SEO uses results as the  basis for its counting. So if you turn results off and SEO on then this will override it. What I do is turn SEO off and then when I am completed my search I select the keywords I am interested in in the main window by selecting them and holding the CTRL key at the same time. Once I have my keywords selected, right-click and open the menu and then select "Download websites for SEO for selected keywords"  - doing it this way means I  can get only the data I want without wasting time.

Keyword Discovery is a separate subscription service - to get a username and pass you need to subscribe to their service. You can find out more at Trellian - our link for them is http://www.keywordsanalyzer.com/keyworddiscovery.htm

By integrating the Keyword Discovery API into Keywords Analyzer then KD users now  have seemless integration between the two, which is what a lot of users asked for.

Hello John,

You need to go into Accounts>Accounts Manager and Activate that particular account before trying to download data.

You need to repeat that process for each individual Adwords account you set up.

After you have activated the account you should not get that error when you submit the report request to AdWords.

Thanks - yes - I have spotted it and been testing it.

When you get that message - close the download box and wait a minute or so - then open "Download Reports" again and select "Download Already created report" and if the report  has finished compiling then it will download as normal. If not then you will see that message - wait a few minutes and repeat.

The point being, that the data is still being downloaded.

The problem I have with identifying it is that Goran, the programmer, is on vacation in China - I will ask him to take a look just as soon as he can, although he is awa for another three weeks.
